Samuel Johnson, Sr. is an UnCommon Law alumnus and Board member who was released from San Quentin last year after serving 22 years.  Inside, Sam became known as a peacemaker and facilitator, and was respected by fellow inmates and staff alike. Sam is now the Housing Coordinator for Impact Justice's innovative reentry housing program, The Homecoming Project.

Mr. Johnson is also the named plaintiff on behalf of 10,000 lifers in our successful class action suit, Johnson v Shaffer, which provides protection from improper use of psychological reports in the parole hearing process for the 35,000 people whose freedom depends on successfully navigating it.
