Alexander Kirkpatrick (they/she/he), Staff Attorney, Home After
Harm,
holds a J.D. from University of Southern California School of Law and a
B.A. in Political Theory from University of Colorado at Boulder. Alexander’s
work focuses on supporting individuals to heal in the face of acute harm, and
through the transformative power of these personal and collective liberation
journeys, resist and reimagine violent systems.

As a deputy public defender in LA County, Alexander represented hundreds
of clients in state criminal proceedings and jury trials. Their focus on
restorative practice resulted in the dismissal of over 50 open criminal cases
through mental health diversion. At USC’s Post-Conviction Justice Project
(PCJP), as a law student and post-bar fellow, Alexander represented
individuals at their parole consideration hearings and juveniles sentenced to
life without parole on their resentencing hearings and subsequent appeals. For four years, they led administrative challenges for gender-affirming
healthcare for transgender folks incarcerated in California prisons.

Alexander is trained in transformative justice practice and nonviolent conflict
resolution. Since 2022, they facilitate a trauma healing and restorative
justice circle for incarcerated women with ReEvolution. They are also a
facilitator and trainer with California Conference for Equality and Justice.
They are blessed with a wide web of loved ones and chosen family and enjoy
communing with trees, hiking mountains, and writing poetry.
